The ministry logged a suspected flight near Sobari at 16:22 and later reported a crash

The Air Operations Centre of Moldova's National Army reported a suspected unauthorised flight in the Sobari area, Soroca District, at 16:22. The ministry's update, stamped 17:04, said the unmanned aircraft fell and exploded in the fields outside Codrenii Noi, toward the village of Scăieni.

Preliminary police information showed no casualties, and officers were at the scene establishing the circumstances, Logos Press reported. The ministry told residents not to touch or move unidentified objects or fragments and to call 112.

Moldova's foreign ministry condemned the incidents as "a serious violation of our country's sovereignty and territorial integrity". Logos Press reported seven cases of unauthorised overflights between October 15 and 16.

Five earlier objects spent 1 to 18 minutes in Moldovan airspace

The ministry published entry and exit times for each earlier crossing. Each came from the direction of Ukraine and left again, and four of the six entries are in Ștefan Vodă District.

Local time Where Time inside Moldova
October 15, 01:43 to 01:51 From Grădinița toward Purcari, left toward Starokazacie 8 min
October 15, 23:02 to 23:20 From Timcovo toward Ivanovca, left toward Bronit 18 min
October 16, 03:37 to 03:38 From Starocazacie toward Tudora 1 min
October 16, 03:46 to 03:48 From Mohyliv-Podilskyi toward Otaci, left near Hădărăuți 2 min
October 16, 05:59 to 06:00 From Starocazacie toward Căplani, left toward Olănești 1 min
October 16, 06:09 to 06:10 Back in through Purcari, left via Dnestrovsc toward Gradenițî 1 min

The last two rows are the same aircraft crossing twice, as the ministry describes it, so six crossings are five objects. Together they come to 31 minutes. The ministry ties the flights to Russian attacks on Ukraine.

The ministry reported a crash after the Sobari report, not a second exit

The ministry has not published the time of the explosion or a track from Sobari. The two village centres are about 37 km apart, with Codrenii Noi to the west-southwest, by AirVeto's measurement. The ministry does not say the 16:22 report and the explosion are one flight, only that its update followed the Sobari report.

The two places are in different districts. Codrenii Noi is 11.6 km from the Mihăileni Vechi crash of September 8, the only other page in AirVeto's archive within 40 km.

The ministry has counted 63 airspace violations this year, 15 of them in October

In a release last updated at 13:11 on October 16, before the Sobari report, the ministry said the National Army had recorded 63 airspace violations since the start of 2026, 15 of them in October. Since 2022 the total reached 100.

The same release recorded a drone with explosives found in pieces at Geamăna, Anenii Noi District, on October 10. This is the ninth Moldova page in AirVeto's 2026 archive, after the September 30 violations at Brănești and the October 3 strikes at Crocmaz.
