Moldovan police identified a drone found in a forest strip near Gordinesti, Rezina District, on 5 November 2026 as a Gerbera with no explosives aboard.
AirVeto finding: Police named the type about four and a half hours after the first report, but no source says when the Gerbera flew. It lies 16.8 km from Tipova, where the 30 September Branesti track crossed Rezina District, and 17.7 km from Chistelnita, where the 23 October drone left radar in the same district.

Moldovan police were alerted on November 5, 2026 to a drone-like object in a wooded area near Gordinesti, in Rezina District. By 19:15 local time they had identified it as a Gerbera with no explosives aboard. NewsMaker published the first report at 14:49 local time, so the type was named about four and a half hours later. None of the four reports AirVeto read says when the drone flew or came down.
Gordinesti lies 16.8 km, by AirVeto's measurement, from Tipova, which a drone track on September 30 crossed on its way to Branesti. It is 17.7 km from Chistelnita, where the ministry lost a drone from radar on October 23 near Meseni, also in Rezina District.
Police were alerted to a drone-like object in a forest strip on the afternoon of November 5
The General Police Inspectorate (IGP) said officers in Rezina were alerted to an object resembling a drone in a wooded area near Gordinesti. Explosives specialists from the police went to the site to establish what it was and where it came from. IGP asked residents not to approach or touch any fragments and to avoid the area until checks were finished. MOLDPRES reported that the area was isolated while specialists examined the aircraft.
PRO TV Chisinau put the find in a forest strip outside the village limits. None of the reports name who found it or give the exact spot.
Police named it a Gerbera and found no explosives aboard
After the examination, the police explosives unit determined that the aircraft is a Gerbera, a type used as a rule for reconnaissance, IGP said. The unit also found no explosive devices or substances aboard. NewsMaker's update carries the time 19:22 and ProTV's reads 19:15.
PRO TV Chisinau reported that police are still documenting the case, to establish how the aircraft reached Moldovan territory. That answer was not public when this page was written. The Defence Ministry's press page listed no release for November 5, and none of the four reports ties the find to a radar track.
The find fits a pattern of recent Moldovan drone events
MOLDPRES, summarising official figures, reported that Moldova's airspace was violated 19 times in October during Russian strikes on Ukraine. The violations were in the districts of Causeni, Stefan Voda, Anenii Noi, Hincesti, Ocnita, Donduseni, Telenesti, Calarasi, Ungheni and Edinet, and in four localities in the Transnistrian segment. Six drones exploded on the ground. About 70 incidents were recorded from the start of 2026, and more than 100 since 2022.
AirVeto's archive holds 12 Moldovan events in 2026 before this one. The nearest is Chistelnita, where police found a drone in a field about 100 m from a house. The Cernita Gerbera, found 39.1 km from Gordinesti, was the first Gerbera with an onboard camera that Moldovan police reported.
Wind at the time of the first report blew from the northwest
At 14:00 local time on November 5, near the first report, the wind at 1,000 m blew from the NW at 35.5 km/h. At 2,000 m it came from the N at 31.4 km/h, and at 3,000 m from the N at 38 km/h. Because no source gives the flight time, these values describe the afternoon of the find, not the flight. A Gerbera is a powered aircraft, so the wind is context rather than a drift track.
This reconstruction is based on reporting by MOLDPRES, PRO TV Chisinau, Ziarul de Garda and NewsMaker, and on AirVeto's wind-model data for the event window. How the model is built and where it is reliable is on the methodology page. The full list of drone and airspace events along the EU's eastern border is in the incident archive.
